RE: Towing with 2008 Ford F250 Super Duty diesel

I tow a 10,000 lb Cardinal 28WB. I'm a little over my GVWR, but within all other specs and it pulls it very comfortably. Same truck with towing package, rear stabilizer and air bags. See ya down the road!

RE: FIBERGLASS LAMINATES

June, turn off your caps lock key. This can be mistaken for yelling. By the way, my 2002 Cardinal has some small areas of delamination. So far, the mfgr says not to worry. We'll see. Good luck on your choice of 5ver. See ya down the road.

RE: Airborne Pin Box

The bolt diameter on the chart. Is the size the bolt head or the diameter of the threaded bolt part? 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 etc.. Thanks

RE: Extended Kingpin

I'm installing my sidewinder tomorrow on my 28 ft. Cardinal. I'll post some pictures and info on how it works after the install. I checked with Forest River before I bought it and they said I shouldn't have any problems with it on my 5ver. See ya down the road!

RE: Lamination loose on front of overhang

Check to see if you have any seperation of the roof and top of cap or caulking missing in seams on the sides or top. Mine had some caulk missing on one of the side seams which allowed some water to get in. I noticed the delamination and contacted Forrest River. They told me to caulk the side seam and that should prevent any further problem. I did and it seems to have worked. The delamination area is smaller than it was before I recaulked. Good luck. See ya down the road.

RE: Good time to trade?

We got a great deal on a F250 diesel. They are really discounting the diesel trucks right now. I wanted a F350, but couldn't find one equipped the way we wanted. The F250 will do me just fine. I aggree with previous posters about trade ins. The dealers won't give you much when they are discounting so heavy the new ones. I sold mine myself and got over twice what the dealer offered. There are equally good deals out there on Dodge and Chevy too. So, look around and make your best deal. See ya down the road.

RE: Do I need a slider hitch for my 5vr?

Thanks for all the replies. I might look into the 5th airborne unit. My 5vr is a model 28, so it should work pretty good for me. See ya down the road!

Do I need a slider hitch for my 5vr?

I just changed TV from a long bed to a short bed. 6 3/4 vs 8 foot. As you can see by my signature, I have a 2002 Cardinal. The front cap is flat instead of the newer design of the bubble, so the frontal surface is the same all the way across. I haven't got enough miles on my TV yet to try and tow it, but I did hook it up and backed it out of it's covered storage to check clearance between the bed rails and the underside of the 5vr front end. All looks good except it looks like the front corner of the 5ver gets really close to the back window and cab quickly and without making a very sharp turn. Backing out of the stall is not flat either. It slopes down some as you back out. I'm just wondering if most of you that have shortbeds use a slider or just never turn very sharp? I've considered a slider hitch or a pin box extender. I've read some negative press about the later. Maybe if I'm pulling on a flat surface and turn a corner I'll be OK? I know the slider won't help there, that they are more designed for backing. Let me know what you think and how you have handled it. Thanks, See ya down the road.

Rodeo Ford-Dallas

Well, some of you might already know Rodeo Ford, but I didn't. These guys are scammers! I saw their internet ad for 40% off all Lariats and started dealing with an internet sales person. After 2 days of back and forth, they said my price looked good and her manager agreed to run it by the the owner for approval, but I had to come over there. It's 50 miles each way and I told them I didn't feel good about it since they wouldn't actually give me a fixed price. Their answer was that if they didn't think we could make the deal, they wouldn't ask me to drive over. So, I fell for it. Got over there and the internet person wouldn't come down to meet me. That's when I should have walked out. A salesperson came up and said he been assigned to us for the deal. After about an hour of messing around with the paperwork he showed us the price we would pay. WOW! It wss $7000 over what we had agreed on over email. I showed them the email and then we waited. Waited..... Finally the manager of the Internet sales came out and told us the Lariat we picked wasn't on the list for 40% off. I said for him to read the fine print of his own ad, it said 40% off ALL Lariats! Then he admitted to us that the 40% wasn't really 40% off MSRP. It just involved the basic Ford rebates. I said that was false advertising and he said it was, but it got people into the store so they could make a sale! He actually admitted it! He said it was a promo from Ford and they were just following it. I checked with a lot of other Ford dealers in the metroplex and found that no other dealer would agree that it was a Ford discount program. Needles to say, we walked out and told them where they could put their truck and ended up at 5-Star Ford and bought a beautiful F250 at a really great internet price. Thanks to Kelly, Sherry and Robert! No BS, just a great deal. So, if you didn't know about Rodeo before, you do now. Now I have a mint condition 99 F250 Lariat/4x4 /7.3 with 110K for sale. Where would be the best place to advertise it? It's bone stock and in great shape. I just wanted a new one before I retired.

RE: Summer almost over =(

Our prime camping season in Texas is just getting ready to get started. Boy have we had a tough hot summer! :C We had a long string of 100° day with it only getting down to the mid-90's at 10:00 at night. Fortunately we're having a cool spell right now with a lot of much needed rain. We've got our Fall schedule packed to the brim with all sorts of camping trips. Yep, what he said!

RE: Lap-Band Procedure - Decide To Do It

Hey Chuck. Sounds like the procedure went well. Rose and I have y0u in our thoughts and prayers as you recover. I'm still not back to work. Now, there's another issue with the eye and I may have to have more surgery. I'll keep you posted. Tell Terry "Howdy" from us and hope to see you out and about later on. Dick & Rose

RE: GPS Systems

We recently purchased a Garmin Nuvi 250W. I still use MS Streets and Trips for route planning. But the Garmin is outstanding for use as a co-pilot. You can get fancier ones, but this one will do the job you want very well. A little more pricy that the Tom-Tom One, but I found it on Amazon for $215 about 6 months ago. I like the much brighter screen on it vs the Tom-Tom One. That was important to me to be able to see it good in bright sunlight with my shades on. Happy Camping.

RE: New Monaco Caymen XL

Thanks Al and Deen. As for a trailer, I was considering a lightweight aluminum to haul my Miata with.

New Monaco Caymen XL

Anyone out there have one of these? The 2008 I'm looking at has the 6.7 Cummins. The salesman said that it would typically get 10mpg. Is this legit? It's the 35 foot model. Is the 6.7 enough engine if I wanted to pull a samll car on a trailer? Thanks, and Happy Camping.

Fort Wilderness 2009

I just booked a site at Fort Wilderness for next May. I booked one of the new "Premium" sites. I was a litle surprised to see how much the prices have gone up from this year. I imagine this will be the only time we will stay there, so I decided to bite the bullet and pay the high price. Has anyone else booked any of the new sites for next year? I haven't been to Disney World since 1992. I'm sure it has changed a lot since then. Are the Park Hopper passes the best thing to get? Can we see most of Disney in 4 or 5 days? Thanks...

RE: People are still confused about TV change in Feb

You will be pleased with the converter box if you can ever find one to buy. WM has been out of them for quite some time here in the DFW metro area. I use one in the RV and it gives me crystal free pictures if I'm close enough to a broadcast area. Just my 2 cents worth. Happy camping and hope to see ya down the road!
